What this site is
Pledge to Pray shows situations around the world where people are suffering or in urgent need, and gives you an opportunity to pledge to pray for them. Using the site means accepting these terms.
What it is not
Pledge to Pray is not an emergency service, a government or official disaster authority, a relief or aid organisation, or a source of official statistics. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services.
It is not a news organisation. Prayer needs summarise what authoritative sources have reported so that you can understand who needs prayer.
Where the information comes from
Prayer needs are compiled from authoritative and reputable sources — health and disaster authorities, UN agencies and established reporting — and every published prayer need is reviewed and approved by a person before it appears.
Situations change quickly, and early figures are often revised. Where a figure is still being verified we say so rather than presenting it as settled, and where a figure is not reliably available we leave it out rather than estimating it. Even so, information here may become out of date. For operational decisions, rely on the original authority rather than on us.
Pledging
A pledge is a personal commitment to pray. It is free, it involves no payment or account, and it is counted once per prayer need per person. Counts shown are aggregate: they never identify who pledged.
What we promise, and what we do not
We promise to show real situations honestly, to count your pledge, and to keep your email address private. We do not promise any particular outcome. Nothing here is a guarantee that prayer will produce a specific result, and Pledge to Pray does not provide medical, legal, financial or emergency assistance of any kind.
Pledging to pray sends no money, food, medicine or rescue to anyone. If you want to give practical help, please give directly to a relief organisation working in that place.
Acceptable use
Please do not attempt to inflate pledge counts, submit false prayer needs, abuse the submission or signup forms, or interfere with the operation of the site. Submitting a prayer need is a request for consideration, not a right to publication — every submission is reviewed, and most sites of this kind receive more than they can carry.
Prayer needs you submit
What you write stays yours. By submitting a prayer need you give us permission to read it, check it against other sources, edit it for length and clarity, and — if we publish it — show it on this site as a prayer need. That is all the permission we take, and it lasts only for that purpose.
Submitting does not make anything public. Every submission is reviewed by a person, most are not published, and we may decline one without giving a reason. Please only send information you have the right to share, and do not send files — the form takes text and links.
Content
The Pledge to Pray name, design and original text belong to Pledge to Pray. Photographs and other images belong to the people and organisations credited with them and are used under the licences those credits name; nothing here claims ownership of them. Quoted facts and figures belong to the sources credited with them.
Availability
We aim to keep the site available and accurate but cannot guarantee either. The site is provided as it is, without warranties, and it is free to use. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from using it or from being unable to use it. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
We may change, suspend or withdraw the site or any part of it, and we may restrict access where these terms are being abused.
