Privacy Policy

Your email address is private. Individual pledges are never publicly identified. We collect as little as the product actually needs.

What we collect

What we do not collect

If your country cannot be determined, your pledge is accepted exactly as normal and counts in the worldwide total. It simply is not attributed to a country. Country detection is never a condition of praying.

What is public

Only aggregate numbers: how many people have pledged for a prayer need, the worldwide total, and how many countries are represented. Never a name, never an email address, never an individual pledge.

Email

We only email an address after the person who owns it has confirmed it. Every email carries an unsubscribe link and a preference link that need no password. You can turn off Urgent Prayer Alerts and the Weekly Prayer Update independently, or stop everything at once.

If an address bounces permanently or is reported as spam, it is suppressed and we stop sending to it. We do not sell, rent or share email addresses.

Analytics

We measure how the site is used in aggregate — page views, pledges, shares, which prayer needs people are praying for — so we can tell whether the platform is doing its job. This is first-party and pseudonymous. Email addresses, tokens and IP addresses are never sent to analytics, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.

Cookies and browser storage

The public site sets no cookies at all, and stores nothing whatsoever in your browser — no cookie, no local storage, no session storage, no identifier of any kind. We do not recognise your browser when you come back, and we have not built anything that would let us.

We used to store a single yes/no flag recording that this browser had been here before. We removed it. It told us very little, and not storing anything at all is a clearer promise than explaining why what we stored was harmless.

There are no advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers and no third-party analytics scripts. Signing in to the private admin area sets a session cookie, but that area is for the people who run the site, not for visitors.

Links in our emails

If you subscribe, the links in our emails carry a random code that tells us that someone we email came back and which message brought them. We use it for one number: whether the people who asked to hear from us actually return. It is resolved on our server and removed from the address bar as soon as you land, so it does not follow you around the site or get passed on to anyone else.

That code is not a login. It cannot be used to read your email address, see your preferences, or unsubscribe you, and it is different from the links that do those things. If you would rather it did not exist, unsubscribing stops the emails and stops this with them.

Who processes data for us

We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They process data on our instructions and for no purpose of their own:

Selling and advertising

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. No advertising technology runs on this site today. If that ever changes, this page will be updated before it does, and any tracking that would require your consent will ask for it.

Where we are, and where you are

Pledge to Pray is operated from the United States and is used worldwide, so information is processed in the United States and wherever our providers operate. Whatever country you are in, you can use the preference and unsubscribe links in any email, or write to us, to see what we hold about your address, correct it, or have it deleted.

Data we keep and for how long

Subscriber records are kept while the subscription is active and for as long as we need to honour an unsubscribe request — a suppressed address has to be remembered in order to stay suppressed. Prayer needs and their pledge counts are part of the public record of the prayer response and are kept.

Your choices

Children

Pledge to Pray is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page. Questions go to support@pledgetopray.com.
