What happened
Two Philippine Air Force SF-260 trainer aircraft went down during a training flight at Fernando Air Base in Lipa City, Batangas province, at 3:51 pm on Friday, 23 October, killing all four pilots, the Air Force said. Both aircraft came down inside the base perimeter and no other casualties were reported. Local media described a midair collision; the Air Force has opened an investigation into the cause and has grounded its entire SF-260 fleet as a precaution. The pilots have not been publicly named, and the Air Force has asked the public to respect their families’ privacy.
Four families in the Philippines are grieving pilots killed in a training accident, and the Air Force they served is mourning its fallen aviators.
