Twelve migrants, among them a baby, die as boats capsize off Greece’s Lesbos and Samos

What happened
Twelve migrants died on Monday, 19 October, in two separate capsizings in the eastern Aegean Sea, Greece’s coast guard said. Six people, among them a baby, died off Lesbos after their speedboat collided with a coast guard vessel, and six more died off Samos when a speedboat overturned. Survivors were rescued from both boats, and the coast guard was still searching for three people reported missing.
Families are grieving twelve people who died trying to reach Greece by sea, among them a baby.
