What happened
A speeding truck loaded with paddy ploughed into worshippers gathered outside the Sheetla Mata temple in Gwalior, in India’s Madhya Pradesh state, at about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, 18 October, during the Navratri festival, killing 15 people and injuring more than 25, police said. The truck broke through police barricades into a no-entry zone and brought down part of the temple wall. Its driver and owner have been arrested, and the state government has ordered an inquiry.
Families in Gwalior are mourning loved ones who had gathered to worship at a temple during a festival.
