Russian missile and drone strikes on Kyiv kill three and injure 22
What happened
Russian missile and drone strikes on Kyiv overnight into Wednesday, 14 October, killed at least three people and injured 22, damaging homes and a key power plant and leaving more than 600,000 people without electricity. Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, first reported one person killed and one injured; the toll rose by Wednesday morning. President Volodymyr Zelensky said the ballistic missiles came with no early warning from Ukraine’s partners. The attack came as Ukraine enters the heating season.
