Migrant boat capsizes off Djibouti, killing at least 139, including 15 children

What happened
At least 139 migrants, including 15 children, died and 84 are missing after a boat carrying about 300 people capsized off Djibouti on its way to Yemen, the UN’s International Organization for Migration said on Sunday, 11 October. The boat sank north of the town of Obock on the night of 8 to 9 October; more than 80 people, all Ethiopians, survived. The route across the Gulf of Aden is one of the busiest and most dangerous migration routes in the world, used mostly by people from the Horn of Africa trying to reach Yemen and the Gulf states.
84 people are still missing, and their families do not yet know their fate.
