Fresh flash floods sweep away homes and bridges in central Nepal, leaving five missing

What happened
A flash flood on the Budhi Gandaki river in Nepal’s Gorkha district swept away dozens of homes, several bridges and parts of hydropower projects on Sunday, 11 October, and five people are missing, officials said. Authorities have rescued 321 people, including 12 foreigners, and more than 100 foreign trekkers are stranded after the flood washed away parts of the Manaslu trekking trail. The United Nations has begun an aid operation. The flood came six weeks after the catastrophic flood of 26 August, from which Nepal is still recovering.
Families along the Budhi Gandaki river are waiting for news of five people who are still missing.
