Fire at a beach resort in Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar kills 10 tourists
What happened
Ten people were killed, all of them tourists and six of them reportedly from one family, when fire swept through the Tuptup Resto and Resort at Inani, on the Marine Drive south of Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, early on Saturday, 17 October. Several people were injured. The cause is not yet known. Fire service officials said the mostly wooden resort had been warned in June about fire-safety violations and had been built without fire service clearance.
Families who came to the coast on holiday are mourning loved ones lost in a fire at a beach resort.
