What happened
A drone strike hit a transport hub in al-Dibab, in Sudan’s West Kordofan state, on the evening of Sunday, 18 October, killing at least 80 people, most of them people waiting for trucks to take them home after market day, a medical source and a witness told AFP. The witness said the drone struck twice, ten minutes apart. Local groups have given higher preliminary figures. The administration set up by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces blamed the army; responsibility has not been independently established. It is one of the deadliest single strikes of Sudan’s war.
Families in West Kordofan are mourning dozens of people killed as they waited to travel home from market.
