Bangkok declares city-wide flood disaster as thousands move to shelters

What happened
Bangkok declared a flood disaster across all 50 of its districts on 26 September after almost 300 mm of rain fell in under 48 hours, submerging roads and homes. Nearly 4,900 people have moved into shelters and about 52,000 households have been affected. At least eight people have died in flooding across Thailand over the past 10 days.
Thousands of families in Bangkok have left flooded homes for shelters, and many more are trying to dry out and recover.
