What happened
An avalanche struck the base camp of the 7,126-metre Himlung Himal peak in Nepal on 27 September after days of severe weather, burying a tent where nine climbers and 13 support staff were sheltering. At least four bodies have been recovered. Sixteen people were reported swept away, and the search was suspended on 29 September because of dangerous conditions.
Families of Nepali guides and overseas climbers are grieving, and many are still waiting for news.
